Our flowers and yard are loving the rain we’ve gotten this month. Everything is lush and green!

With the arrival of spring, my taste buds yearn for rosé and white wine. Last night we had an amazing Sancerre Rosé, from the Sancerre region of France. Flavors of cherry ad raspberry, a bit of minerality. There’s also a bit of spice. It’s $34.99 at Total Wine and it is definitely a good price for such a delicious wine!

Another lovely French wine is Biface, from the Bordeaux region. Mostly Sauvignon Blanc, it has a touch of Semillon, a grape mostly grown in Bordeaux and Australia. It adds color and depth as a blending wine. It’s refreshing and light and perfect for this time of year. It’s also a bargain – $18.99 from Total Wine.
As we move into Saturdays on the deck and gatherings outdoors with friends, I like to have yummy treats on hand, just in case someone stops by! One of the easiest, most delicious is Jacques Pépin’s Fromage Fort, first made by his father. Here’s the recipe:
- 1/2 pound cheese pieces – use a variety from Brie to Cheddar, Gruyére, Gouda, Fontina – whatever is left in the fridge!
- 1 garlic clove
- 1/4 C. dry, white wine
- Pepper
Mix the ingredients in the food processor until creamy. Add salt if needed. Transfer to a serving dish, or store in an airtight container until ready to eat. Add another level of deliciousness by spreading it on baguette slices and broiling it until bubbly.
Last week I made an amazing lemon bread so I have added it to my April menu selections. It is buttery goodness and is perfect with some fresh berries at breakfast, or as a delightful snack in the afternoon.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. The rain may hinder yard work, but the result will be beautiful, green, lush yards and fabulous flowers!
Enjoy!
